Taos County: Proposed STR Ordinance
The Taos County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, Aug.12. During the meeting, the Board presented the proposed short-term rental (STR) ordinance, which could significantly impact STR operations in Taos County.
A public hearing on the proposed ordinance is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 20. Participation in this process is crucial for all Taos County STR stakeholders. Regulation Roundup: Roswell
Requirements:
- All short-term rentals must be registered with the City and renewed annually, including primary residence STRs.
- Owner must provide General Commerical Liability Insurance.
- A City of Roswell business license is required.
- Operators must have a local contact available to respond to public calls seven days per week, 24 hours a day.
- ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units) may not be used as separate short-term rentals and have the same limitations as primary residences.
- Hosts must remit Lodgers’ Tax to the City monthly in the amount of 5% of the nightly rate for each rental night.
- All properties that belong to an HOA must obtain prior approval from the HOA before registering as a short-term rental.
