Local Updates

Attention Santa Fe STR Owners, Operators, and Property Managers

Have you received an inquiry from the City of Santa Fe office regarding the names and addresses of your out-of-state residents who own short-term rentals in Santa Fe?

We have been made aware that there is a movement from one individual who is seeking to eliminate non-owner-occupied short-term rentals in Santa Fe and who may be pressuring the city of Santa Fe to consider a residential requirement for short-term rental permits. It’s our understanding that you are not obligated to provide this information to the city.

Furthermore, this person has had two op-eds published in the Santa Fe, New Mexican newspaper. Please join us in writing an op-ed to the Santa Fe New Mexican, letting them know of all the benefits that short-term rentals provide to our community.

Albuquerque Proposed STR Regulations Fail

The City of Albuquerque met earlier this month to review proposed short-term rental regulations brought forward by Councilors Joaquin Baca and Nicole Rogers. In a 6-3 vote, the Council voted not to pass the proposed regulations.

Taos Passes STR Ordinance

The Taos County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted to pass the proposed STR ordinance. The ordinance will cap STRs at 400. Current permit holders and owner-occupied STRs will not be counted toward the cap. Public comment during the meeting was split. Notable public comments included NMSTRA board member Amy Bobrick and Red River Mayor Linda Calhoun, who spoke out against the new restrictions.
