For Immediate Release

June 19, 2024 – In response to the devastating Ruidoso fires in New Mexico, the New Mexico Short-Term Rental Association (NMSTRA) and El Paso Short Term Rental Alliance (EPSTRA) have activated a joint Emergency Accommodation Program aimed at providing immediate relief to residents displaced by the fires and emergency personnel.

Under this program, short-term rental hosts and property owners in the El Paso area and New Mexico counties around Ruidoso can match their available properties with families and emergency personnel affected by the Ruidoso fires. This initiative seeks to provide a safe and comfortable temporary living space for those who have lost their homes or been evacuated or those who are traveling to the area to support the fire containment effort.

Program Details:

  • Eligibility: Open to all individuals and families displaced by the Ruidoso fires and emergency personnel responding to the fires
  • Duration: Immediate accommodation available on a short-term basis, with potential extensions based on ongoing needs.
  • How to Apply:
    • Short-term rental hosts and operators: To offer housing, fill out this form. Properties should be safe, clean, and ready for occupancy.

“Our community understands the urgency and need for support during this difficult time,” said Heidy Seoenz, President of EPSTRA. “We are committed to leveraging our resources and network to help our neighbors in New Mexico find some peace of mind and stability while they navigate this crisis.”
